No slang and useful everywhere
To facilitate the memorization of verbs, Spanish teachers classify verbs as regular, irregular and stem changing verbs. In this post we include a couple of verbs of stem changing as an introduction to them.
Verbs ending in _cer are conjugated as "conocer", as long as a vowel precedes the ending _cer. (except "hacer" and its derivatives)
Some of these verbs are > reconocer(to recognize), padecer(to suffer), obedecer(to obey), pertenecer(to belong ), parecer(to seem, to look like), agradecer(to thank), desaparecer(to disappear), etc.
All verbs ending in _ducir are conjugated like "traducir" > producir(to produce), inducir(to induce), reducir(to reduce), etc.
Conjugation Patterns
Some verbs follow a conjugation pattern, for example the verb "tener" is a conjugation pattern of "mantener", "obtener" and so on.
Tener
Mantener(to keep, to mantein), obtener(to obtein, to get), entretener(to entertain, to amuse)
Poner
Componer(to compose, to repair), posponer(to postpone, to put off), reponer(to replace, to recover), imponer(to impose, to enforce), etc.
Hacer
Deshacer(to undo), rehacer(to redo, to remake), satisfacer(to satisfy).
Venir
