The present tense of regular verbs is formed by removing the endings _ar, _er, _ir from the infinitive verbs and adding the personal endings.

        USOS

1._ We use the present tense to report actions with the sense of habitual, actions that happen in a normal way.

        E.g.

  • Ellos viven cerca de aquí.
  • Mi padre trabaja de lunes a viernes.

2._ We also use the present tense to report actions that will happen in the immediate future.

        E.g.

  • Mis primos llegan esta tarde.
  • Ella sale mañana para su país.

3._ We can use the present tense as past tense when we are telling a story to give it the sense that we are living it. (This is not grammatically obligatory; it is just a style of telling it, you can use the past tense normally).

        E.g.

  • En 1984, mi hermana nace, y mis padres se mudan a otra ciudad.
  • Cristóbal Colón descubre América en 1492.
